Sarah Benfield with Volt Pulse LS

Being a busy, successful, and very active person, Sarah Benfield found it tough when she was diagnosed with several long-term health conditions. This customer story shares Sarah’s resilient nature and how using an e-bike has helped her return to the active lifestyle, that’s central to her character.

“I cannot tell you how much I love my Pulse electric bike. Historically I have been very active marathon running etc etc but was diagnosed with a number of chronic, long term conditions including fibromyalgia in 2019 and initially struggled to come to terms with this.

“But the e-bike is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I did a lot of research and just like the ethos of VOLT, had a test ride at Cycle Fixit, Herne Bay and the staff (Adam) were so incredibly helpful and understanding that he put all my fears at ease. He gave me such good advice and configured the Pulse to suit me and I spent a good hour riding around – I was so pleased, I felt active and alive again. Took it out on finance there and then and can’t say enough about the bike and the customer service.

my commute to work is now quicker than the car

“I work a short distance from home (less than 5 miles there and back) as an assistant principal at EKC Broadstairs College (a busy FE college in Thanet) and my career is important to me but fibromyalgia nearly put pay to that. I took some time out during Covid and found what works for me. Now back full-time since 2021 and almost medication-free, my commute to work is now quicker than the car, and so much more enjoyable. I’m a big environmentalist and adding the Volt to my life not only allows me daily, gentle exercise which is so important for fibromyalgia but also reduces my carbon footprint. I got the bike in time for my 50th birthday and I absolutely love it! Use it every day – thank you!”

Just one more thing…

In addition to overcoming her diagnosis, in May this year, Sarah committed to raising money for the RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge, helping Lifeboat crews save lives at sea.

Challenge completed, you can still donate at her RNLI Fundraising page here.
