Located in the picturesque market town of Abingdon and just 20 minutes from Oxford city centre  Behind Bars Cycles take great pride in the service they provide.

Surrounded by the stunning Oxfordshire countryside, supported by a dedicated team and their own test track, it seems life Behind Bars couldn’t be better!

What motivated you to open/run a bicycle shop?

Well that is simple, a passion for riding our bikes!

What makes your store different from others?

Without sounding like we are bragging, we have our own test track! So you can fully try out your bikes before you buy them!

Where is the best/favourite location you’ve ever cycled?

Hands down Afan forest, south Wales, no question about it. Stunning. 

What is the funniest/strangest request you’ve ever had from a customer?

Customers often ask if we have ever been behind bars! Thankfully we have not, our name actually came about 30 years ago in 1987 when we originally began trading as a windsurfing shop called Above Board! Ten years later we moved onto Bikes and changed our name to Behind Bars!

What about the VOLT™ brand & range led you to stock them?

First and foremost VOLT™ has great electric bikes and great reviews. It is also a pleasure working with their team.

 What is your favourite VOLT™ e-bike and why?

It is impossible to choose! They are all good for different uses, it depends what adventure you have in mind!

What is your top tip for anyone looking to buy an electric bike?

Aside from speaking to our friendly staff its always a good idea to book a test ride, come on in and ride it first! Did we mention we have our own test track?!
