VOLT’s latest e-bike is being put to the test. We’re delighted to see the new VOLT Urban LS featured in a comprehensive video review by Electroheads, one of the UK’s leading electric bike and mobility channels.
Rather than a quick spin around the block, Electroheads set out to answer a simple question: can the Urban LS make one of the world’s biggest and busiest cities feel more manageable?
To find out, they spent a full day riding across London, taking in iconic landmarks including Borough Market, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Notting Hill and Hampstead Heath, while putting the Urban LS through its paces on everything from busy cycleways and city streets to challenging hill climbs.
An Electric Bike Built for Modern Urban Life
The review highlights many of the features that make the Urban LS one of the most exciting additions to the VOLT range.
At the heart of the bike is the UK’s first Bafang 3-speed automatic motor system, working seamlessly with VOLT’s innovative SpinTech Drive technology. Combined with a carbon belt drive, the result is an exceptionally smooth, quiet and low-maintenance riding experience.
Electroheads praised the effortless automatic gear changes, describing the ride as “buttery smooth”, while also noting the comfortable riding position, ergonomic handlebars and confidence-inspiring hydraulic disc brakes.
Tackling London’s Hills
While the Urban LS is designed primarily as a city commuter, London’s varied terrain provided plenty of opportunities to test its climbing ability.
The review particularly highlights how the automatic gearing and responsive motor support help remove much of the effort from urban riding, making longer journeys and steeper routes accessible to more riders.
A Full Day’s e-Riding from 86% Battery
One of the main aims of the video was to see how the Urban LS performs over a full day in the city.
Starting with 86% battery charge and finishing on 8%, the reviewer covered a total of 29 miles across London using a mix of Eco, Tour and higher assistance modes when needed.
Their verdict?
“ For a battery of this size, I think that’s great and has given me a full day of riding. ”
The test also highlighted the practicality of the removable battery, allowing riders to take it with them when parking for additional peace of mind.
Battery Safety and Quality Matter
