Trevor with his VOLT Bike

When he was unexpectedly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes earlier this year, he knew he needed to make a change. Exercise and diet were going to be key, but finding a way to stay active that was realistic and enjoyable wasn’t easy. Running had once been part of his life — he and his wife had completed the London Marathon a few years back — but with the weight he had gained, returning to running didn’t feel achievable.

Cycling soon became the obvious option. Encouraged by a friend who is a keen cyclist, he got in touch Jardine Cycles in Coventry and began exploring e-bikes.

From the first rides, it was clear the right bike would make all the difference. He tried a few models from VOLT and quickly fell in love with the Pulse. Comfortable, easy to ride, and genuinely fun, it ticked all the boxes. “I honestly believe now that I’ve never felt better,” he says.

When cycling becomes a joy, not a chore

The impact on his life has been profound. Between the medication, improved diet, and regular cycling, he has lost nearly three stone. But for him, the biggest change has come from the exercise itself. Cycling has become a joy rather than a chore — something he looks forward to, not something he forces himself to do. Even a short break, like a family wedding weekend without his bike, reminded him just how much cycling had become a part of his life.

The team has been responsive, helpful, and genuinely supportive, making it easy to enjoy every ride with confidence. “Nothing’s too much trouble,” he says, “and that makes a real difference when your bike becomes such an important part of daily life.”

This isn’t just a story about an e-bike. It’s a story about regaining confidence, finding a sustainable way to stay active, and taking control of one’s health. The Pulse hasn’t just helped him get moving — it has transformed the way he approaches exercise, wellbeing, and everyday life.

Cycling, he reflects, isn’t simply about keeping fit. It’s about freedom, routine, and joy. And with the right support, the right bike, and the right attitude, it can change lives.
