Craig Charles and Connect

Keen watchers of Channel 4’s ‘Sunday Brunch’ may have picked up on Craig Charles’ reference to his “Volt Electric Bike”. Appearing via weblink on the hit weekend show, his excitement over his battery-powered two-wheeled machine was so clear even Kryten couldn’t have missed it!

The Gadget Show presenter, DJ, former Coronation Street star, and of course Red Dwarf and Robot Wars “ledge”, waxed lyrical about his Volt Connect

In his own words:

I live at the bottom of a Valley, so if I take a left or a right out of my house, I’m going uphill and you don’t want to be seen by people pushing your cycle up the hill, do you? I’ve got this electric bike now and as you pedal; I make it to the top of the hill which is brilliant!

Last year (before lockdown), he invited us down to the set of Red Dwarf to deliver his new Connect, where he showed us around the set of RED DWARF: THE PROMISED LAND at Pinewood studios! :O

As huge fans getting a sneak peek at where Craig Charles (as Lister), Chris Barrie (Rimmer), Danny John-Jules (Cat), Robert Llewellyn (Kryten), and Norman Lovett (Holly) were making their magic was beyond cool!

The long-running British Sci-fi comedy has to be one of the most original and iconic shows to be aired on terrestrial television. With a plethora of awards including an Emmy, it has proved popular across generations. Since reconnecting the Red Dwarf cast for the Freeview channel Dave, the show has enjoyed continued success; winning “Best Returning TV Sitcom” in a public vote for British Comedy Awards and in 2019 reached 80 in Empire’s Top 100 Best TV Shows of All Time.

Here’s the main man himself talking Red Dwarf, Gadget Show and how his Volt electric bike helps him tackle the hills in his local area on Channel 4’s Brunch (3mins and 30 seconds in)…

Craig’s always got something up his sleeve, when he is not destroying hills on his e-bike, he is on the BBC 6 radio playing tunes on his Funk and Soul show, hopefully preparing for summer festivals and juggling with the best vinyl collection including his new album Trunk of Funk including tracks with Josh Teskey, Roy Ayers or Patrice Rushen and many more.

We love Craig Charles and we’re thrilled that he chose to back Volt when swapping his planet explorer spaceship for a terrestrial hill killer aka the Volt Connect!
