While caravans and motorhomes offer a fun and economic way to explore the UK and Europe, they can be far from ideal for nipping around the local towns and villages. Taking the motorhome for a five-minute drive down the local shops or market is not always as simple as it sounds, particularly on those small country lanes. Case Study: Hugh & Barbara

Hugh and Barbara Emsley did just that when they embarked on a summer holiday across Europe in their motorhome. Traversing France, Spain and Portugal, they took full advantage of the flexibility their vehicle gave them. Among their favourite routes were the cycle paths of Ile de Re, an island off the west coast of France, and the Spanish mountains. Their foldable e-bikes allowed them to visit street markets, wayside cafes and plenty other sites along the way. Not to mention, they made it easier to conquer otherwise challenging climbs.

Despite the couple’s extensive travels, the eBikes’ motor and batteries delivered reliable power throughout their journey.

“We tried hard to find the limits of the batteries, but we always arrived home with power remaining, despite travelling more than 50 kilometres on occasion up and down some severe gradients.”

The Metros’ easy folding also made transportation a breeze between each location. Hugh found that their simplicity and convenience made moving between campsites all the more enjoyable.

“We are often stopped by people interested in the bikes, and they particularly like the ease of folding and storing the bikes.”
