Haslemere Motor Cycles under the Spotlight…
What motivated you to open/run a bike shop?
We are a long established motorcycle dealership that have been successfully trading now for forty years! Over the years we have gained experience in selling electric bicycles with the Yamaha PAS and electric motorcycles with the ballistic Zero range. Selling a brand such as VOLT seemed a great idea to fill a gap in our market, offering a great form of transport at reasonable prices. The VOLT range is a great alternative to a scooter for our customers to store on their motor homes. No tax, low cost running and servicing and great FUN!
Mike and Tom have a great deal of knowledge in the world of bicycles, both having made the transition from the cycle world to the motorcycle world. They are both still keen cyclists.
What makes your store different from others?
HMC is a friendly place for current and potential customers to pop in anytime for coffee and a chat! The staff are knowledgeable and more than anything, helpful. We sell new and used motorcycles, servicing, spares, accessories and mot’s and we also have a large selection of clothing, crash helmets, accessory’s etc. We are multi award winners and currently sit top of the tree for Suzuki care 2016.
Not to mention, we are extremely lucky with our location. There are some fantastic places nearby to ride. There will shortly be a dedicated cycle path opening that goes from Bordon to Portsmouth on the South Coast. The route will pass through the picturesque South Downs and ending at the historic Portsmouth Dockyard. Watch out for a full route write-up on our website soon. (Using a VOLT e-bike of course!)
What is the funniest/strangest request you’ve ever had from a customer?
In the past we’ve been asked if we can supply a 25 mile extension lead. Of course with VOLT and their great range this isn’t needed!
What was it about the VOLT brand & range that led you to stock them?
In the early 2000’s we sold the Yamaha PAS with great success and more recently we became great ambassadors for the Zero range of motorcycles until Zero regrettably stopped trading in the UK. Electric bikes of any type have been a point of interest for us and having monitored the progress of e-bikes we felt the VOLT range ticked all the boxes for us . The range offers quality components, a respectable range and most importantly for us VOLT are a great company to deal with.
What is your favourite VOLT e-bike and why?
What is your top tip for anyone looking to buy an electric bike?
Our top tip has to simply be, if you want an e-bike, buy a VOLT! Once the customer has worked out what they want a VOLT bike for, we will help them work out the very best model for them. They won’t regret it, that’s for sure!
