After much anticipation, we’re thrilled to have our hands on the prototype of the Axis, the most advanced assisted commuter e-bike to date.
The game-changing e-bike features the smooth acceleration of a Shimano STEPS 250W motor and DI2 8-speed gear hub combined with a Gates CDX Carbon Belt Drive system. It’s the first to incorporate these technologies into a foldable model, making it truly one of a kind. At 18kg, it is easily stored and lifted into a bus, car or train, while its system of strategically placed magnetic contacts allows for more convenient manoeuvring while folded.
The Gates CDX carbon belt drive system is built from stretch-free carbon-fibre tensile cords. The surrounding weather-proofing polyurethane shell makes them easier to clean and practically maintenance-free.
The Axis features 20×2.1” Schwalbe Big Apple tyres built to withstand daily use on the roads. Both the front and rear wheels are outfitted with Shimano Alfine hydraulic disc-brakes that provide reliable braking power.
The commuter bike’s groundbreaking features haven’t gone unnoticed in recent months. Bike Italia wrote that the Axis “has everything it takes to be perfect in the city,” while Ebike Tips agreed they “certainly haven’t seen another” of its kind.
While the Axis will be available to purchase in December 2017, you’re welcome to come view and test ride the prototype in our London Bridge showroom.
