Exciting times for Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and VOLT in a new collaboration that extends a deep-rooted commitment to excellence and sustainability.

Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons & VOLT Bikes Partner for a Greener Future

Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, the iconic Oxfordshire haven founded by the legendary Chef Raymond Blanc OBE, is a place where culinary excellence meets unwavering commitment to sustainability. With two Michelin stars held since its opening in 1984 and a prestigious Green Michelin Star recently added, it exemplifies how luxury and environmental stewardship can harmoniously coexist.

As part of their continuous efforts to enhance their green initiatives, the estate has recently acquired a fleet of VOLT e-bikes.

A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future

At Le Manoir, the ethos of sustainability is deeply ingrained, inspired by Raymond Blanc’s childhood in Franche-Comté, France. Blanc’s early experiences with foraging, hunting, and cooking with fresh produce from his family garden have profoundly influenced the sustainable practices at the estate.

This commitment is evident in the lush 27-acre organic gardens and orchards, meticulously maintained by a team of 13 gardeners. These gardens not only provide the kitchen with fresh produce but also contribute to a closed-loop system where any waste is composted on-site.

The Green Michelin Star: A Testament to Green Excellence

Their dedication to a low-impact ethos was formally recognized with the award of a Michelin Green Star, an accolade celebrating the restaurant’s eco-friendly practices.

From the careful sourcing of ingredients to innovative waste management solutions, Le Manoir sets a benchmark for sustainability in the hospitality industry.

This commitment extends beyond the kitchen, influencing every aspect of the guest experience, from the luxury of the rooms to the serene beauty of the gardens.

Enhancing Guest Experience with Environmentally Aware Solutions

In line with their environmental goals, the estate has partnered with us to offer guests a more eco-friendly way to enjoy the stunning Oxfordshire surroundings during their stay.

Consisting of low-step Kensington electric cycles, the stylish fleet is an addition in keeping with the elegant surroundings that Le Manoir so diligently maintains.

We’ve always set the benchmark on food. Why can’t we set the benchmark for sustainability?

A Classic Design for a Classic Electric Bicycle

One of the most stylish e-bikes on the market, the Kensington (2024 Model) is built for comfort and elegance. A 17 or 15-inch step-through frame makes it accessible to riders of all heights. Available in classic cream, sumptuous lavender, or attractive light blue, this bike is easy on the eye and a winner with both the press and the public.

Featuring high-quality components, it offers a smooth and reliable riding experience. It is powered by a fully integrated SpinTech™ drive system, including a continuous spin 250W motor and SpinTech™ lithium battery with Panasonic cells, delivering pedal assistance up to and beyond 60 miles on one charge. Riders can choose between five different levels of powered assistance via the LCD screen mounted on the handlebars, or opt for no assistance at all.

This classic e-bike has previously captured the attention of the British media, with features in publications such as The Times, The Stylist and The Telegraph. And has also made appearances on popular TV shows like Eastenders and More4 travelogue show presented by Derry Girls star Siobhan McSweeney.

A Commitment to Future Generations

Rhodri Williams, Le Manoir’s Facilities, Environmental, and Sustainability Manager, underscores the importance of sustainability in luxury hospitality. Having dedicated 19 years to the estate, initially as the executive sous chef, Rhodri now drives the comprehensive sustainability agenda. “I think sustainability is a prerequisite for luxury,” says Rhodri. “We’ve always set the benchmark on food. Why can’t we set the benchmark for sustainability?”
