The Volt Swift is modelled on the award-winning looks of the classic Kensington but with a bit of a twist. The main difference between the two being the drive system. The Swift is powered by the highly intelligent and intuitive Shimano STEPS crank motor, making it even smoother to ride.

The Swift offers all the pretty perks of the Kensington, including full mudguards, pannier rack, front basket, adjustable handlebar stem and front & rear lights which are now integrated to run off the main battery. The front and rear disc brakes are a hydraulic system providing performance braking power when you need it. We have also changed the gear system on the Swift, opting for a Shimano Nexus 8-speed internal gear hub instead of the more traditional derailleur system. Gears are operated from a twist-grip shifter on the handlebars for easy gear changes.

The Shimano STEPS motor monitors the speed and torque of the rider's pedalling to deliver the right level of assist at all times. This comes in particularly handy when ascending a hill. The bike knows that you are slowing down but increasing pressure on the pedals and increases assistance from the motor accordingly to help you up the incline. This system is powered by a Sony lithium battery that locks smoothly into the frame and is capable of 70 miles on a single charge. The Shimano high-contrast display unit clearly shows all the vital stats of your ride including speed, distance, range and even controls the battery and lights.

As beautiful to ride as it is to look at, the Swift is not just a pretty frame.
